Wrap & Seal Pipe Burst Tape
Wrap & Seal Pipe Burst Tape is a waterproof pipe repair tape made from self-amalgamating silicone which stretches by three times its length. As it is wrapped around pipework, it fuses to form a solid rubber band which seals live leaks. Wrap & Seal has WRAS approval and makes repairs to pipes of most materials and diameters.
The effectiveness of Wrap & Seal comes from being twice the thickness of other self-fusing waterproof repair tapes, its extra stretch and its unique tapered profile enabling more pressure to be applied per wrap.
Multiple tapes applied over each other will amalgamate in the same way, building a repair capable of withstanding up to 30 bar. Wrap & Seal is temperature resistant to 200°C and effective on steel, stainless steel, copper, malleable iron, GRP, ceramic, most plastics, clay, concrete, rubber, and lead.
It is suitable for fixing leaks in applications ranging from small domestic plumbing problems through to large scale industrial pipe repairs. Because it is effective on live leaks, using Wrap & Seal avoids costly and disruptive shutdowns of systems.
No prior training is required before using Wrap & Seal. Simply follow the instructions provided. It can be used on pipes carrying hot water and chemicals.
Wrap & Seal is WRAS approved, meaning that it can be used safely with drinking water. The versatility of the product makes it suitable for wrapping other types of pipes, including car exhausts and hoses. It can also be used in electrical applications for insulation and repairing damaged cables.
Wrap & Seal Pipe Burst Tape Details
Wrap & Seal is easy to use and depending on the pipe size, pressure and number of tapes being used, repairs can be carried out in under 15 minutes.
The repair begins by anchoring the waterproof tape next to the leak area. Using the centre line as a guide, the tape is stretched to its maximum and wrapped around the pipe until it runs out. The unique tapered profile of Wrap & Seal stops water from tracking underneath the tape, maximising surface contact.
Each layer of tape increases the pressure resistance of the repair. To determine how many layers or tapes are required for a specific application, please use the Calculator tab to enter the repair details.
Repairs made with Wrap & Seal should be reinforced by applying a SylWrap Pipe Repair Bandage over the tape. SylWrap offers a rock hard, impact resistant layer of protection which turns the repair permanent.
Both Wrap & Seal and SylWrap Bandage are available in the Universal Pipe Repair Kit which contains all the equipment needed for fixing live leaks in an emergency. For a kit that allows for multiple pipe repairs to be carried out, then please see the Contractor Case.
