Titanium Supergrade HT Epoxy Paste
Titanium Supergrade HT is an alloy-reinforced epoxy paste with high compressive strength and extreme temperature resistance. It is used for the repair and maintenance of stress-bearing equipment and systems operating in environments up to 250°C. In pipe repair applications, Titanium Supergrade HT rebuilds and protects high temperature pipelines.
Where corrosion, chemical attack or other environmental factors have weakened the exterior of a pipe, Titanium Supergrade HT is applied to rebuild pipeline thickness back towards original specification. It fills damage caused by impact and pitting, restoring surface profile.
Titanium Supergrade HT is filled with corrosion-resistant metal platelets, which provide excellent protection against corrosion and chemical attack. These platelets give it a smoother finish than regular epoxy pastes when machined. It bonds to metal, most plastics and wood.
Applying Titanium Supergrade HT to a pipeline creates a highly-toughened, outer shell around the original substrate. This shell also acts an impermeable membrane, preventing and containing breaches caused by internal corrosion.
Away from pipe applications, the high compressive strength of Titanium Supergrade HT make it ideal for repairing worn and damaged shafts, keyways and splines. It is used to repair high pressure pumps and valves, metal castings, automotive bodywork and for filling large gaps and gouges.
The three-hour gel time allows for large quantities of Titanium Supergrade to be mixed and carefully applied in complex applications at higher temperatures without the threat of premature curing.
Titanium Supergrade HT Epoxy Paste Details
Before applying Titanium Supergrade HT, surfaces should be free of paint, rust and grime. The substrate should then be roughened up through either grit blasting or grinding with a coarse wheel or abrasive disk pad.
Titanium HT Supergrade should be applied as soon as the preparation procedure is complete. Part A and Part B are mixed together at a 3:1 ratio by weight or volume. The epoxy paste is spread over the surface requiring repair using a putty knife or other hand tool.
The epoxy paste is then spread over the area requiring repair using a putty knife. Titanium Supergrade HT should be pushed in firmly to ensure maximum contact and to avoid trapping air between the paste and the surface.
When adding SylWrap Pipe Repair Bandage for pipe repair applications, the bandage is wrapped over Titanium Supergrade as soon as the epoxy paste has been applied. SylWrap will provide a rock-hard, impact resistant layer of protection, further strengthening the weakened section of pipeline. Titanium Supergrade HT helps improve adhesion between the pipe and the composite wrap.
To determine the quantity of Titanium Supergrade HT needed for a specific pipe repair application, please go to the Repair Calculator Tab and enter your repair data.
Post-curing should be undertaking for Titanium Supergrade HT to achieve maximum temperature resistance up to 250°C. Full instructions on the preparation, application and post-curing processes are available on the Technical Data Sheet and are provided with the product.
Titanium Supergrade has a gel time of 180 minutes. It achieves a cure in 24 hours. It is thixotropic, meaning it will not sag.
It is virtually odourless, with no unpleasant smell compared to other epoxy pastes. Its light consistency makes it easier to mix than stiff, heavy traditional epoxy pastes.
Please note that Titanium Supergrade HT does not bond to wet or damp surfaces. For an epoxy paste which is effective in underwater applications, please see Industrial Metal.
