Metal Bond Rapid 5 Minute Epoxy Adhesive
Sylmasta Metal Bond Rapid 5 Minute is a fast-working epoxy adhesive manufactured specifically for the repair and bonding of metal and offer rigid materials. It sets a dark-grey colour to appear uniform with metal, is also used as a gap filler and will not drip or run when applied to vertical surfaces thanks to its unique thixotropic formulation.
Metal Bond Rapid is used as an adhesive and filler for metal castings, automotive parts, test rigs and models. As well as metal, it offers excellent adhesion with ceramic, brick, plaster, wood and fibreglass objects.
The 5-minute initial cure of Metal Bond Rapid offers long enough to accurately adjust and assemble parts before the epoxy adhesive begins to set, whilst a 30-minute handling time reduces holding and clamping. A full cure is achieved in 4–6 hours.
Metal Bond Rapid is supplied in either a 25ml syringe or 50ml cartridge. The resin and hardener are pre-measured and extruded via a dispenser, meaning the correct 50-50 ratio is delivered for mixing.
The syringe dispenses via a plunger, whilst the cartridge requires a specialist applicator gun designed for two-part adhesives, including AllWeld and UHU. Applicator guns are available to purchase separately. For more information, please contact Sylmasta.

Parts and surfaces to be bonded must be clean, dry and free from all traces of dust, grease, oil and other materials. To improve bond strength, both surfaces can be lightly abraded prior to the application of Metal Bond Rapid.
To use a Metal Bond Rapid syringe, snap off the nozzle tip and remove the cap from between the piston rods. Extrude the required amount of epoxy. With a Metal Bond Rapid cartridge, use the applicator gun to deliver equal amounts of epoxy.
Once extruded onto a throwaway surface such as a piece of cardboard, mix the two components together using a stirrer for about 30 seconds until an even mix is achieved.
The mixed epoxy is applied to one of the surfaces to be repaired, after which the two surfaces requiring bonding are pressed or clamped together.
Metal Bond Rapid will begin to set after 3 minutes. It should then be left undisturbed to achieve a functional cure for 30 minutes. A full cure is reached after 24 hours.
Once Metal Bond Rapid has been applied, the cap should be placed on part-used cartridges for re-use of the epoxy at a later date. Under the correct conditions, Metal Bond Rapid has a shelf life of two years from the date of manufacture.
